Central Institute of Technology (CIT)

The Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) in Assam's Kokrajhar District is home to the Central Institute of Technology (CIT), Kokrajhar. CIT was founded to achieve the Bodo people's aspirations regarding their cultural identity, language, education, and the region's overall economic development. It also aims to provide Bodo youth with the necessary technical and vocational training to generate the manpower needed to propel this region's economic growth and to integrate the Bodo people into the mainstream of technical and vocational education.

It is a centrally funded institute run by the Indian government's Ministry of Human Resource Development. The Institute opened for business on December 19, 2006. The Bodo Liberation Tigers, the Union Government, and the Assam Government signed the Memorandum of Settlement on Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) in New Delhi on February 10, 2003. This agreement served as the foundation for the Institute. Under the Societies Registration Act of 1860, the Institute is a self-governing organization overseen by a Board of Governors (BOG).

In 2006, the Diploma Module enrolled its first group of students. Computer Science Engineering (CSE), Control and Instrumentation (CAI), Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), Food Processing Technology (FPT), Construction Technology, and Animation and Multimedia are among the diploma programs now offered by CIT. The degree program at CIT began in 2009. Currently, CIT offers degree programs in information technology, computer science and engineering, electronics and communication engineering, food processing technology, instrumentation engineering, and civil engineering (construction technology).

Examination

The Central Institute of Technology (CIT) administers examinations for various Under Graduate, Post Graduate and Diploma programmes on a semester basis with odd semester exams often taking place in November and even semester exams typically taking place in May.

Even semester classes often start in July, whereas odd semester sessions typically start in mid-January.
