Assam Civil Services Exam is conducted by the Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) every year for all eligible candidates for the recruitment of various departments under the government of Assam.
Assam Civil Services Exam Pattern
Preliminary Examination: The examination consists of two papers of two hours duration each. This examination is meant to serve as screening test only. The marks obtained in the preliminary examination by the candidates who are declared qualified for admission to Main examination are not counted for determining the final selection. The questions are of multiple choice objective types:
Paper -I Subject: General Studies Marks: 200 Duration: 2 Hours
Paper- II Subject: One optional subject to be selected from the lists of optional subjects Marks: 200 Duration: 2 Hours

Main Examination and Interview:
The Main Examination consists of a written Examination and a viva-voce test as below: Candidates who are declared qualified in the Main Examination shall be summoned for a viva-voce test. The viva-voce test carries 200 marks with no qualifying marks.
The written examination consists of the following papers of 3 hours duration each. The questions of the Main Examination will be conventional essay type:
Paper-I Subject: General English Marks: 300 Duration: 3 hours
Paper-II Subject: General Studies Marks: 300 Duration: 3 hours
Paper- III (a & b) Subject: Any two optional subjects to be selected from the list of optional subject (two papers each) Marks: 200 Duration: 3 hours
Marks: 200 Duration: 3 hours
Paper-IV (a & b) Subject: Any two optional subjects to be selected from the list of optional subject (two papers each) Marks: 200 Duration: 3 hours
Marks: 200 Duration: 3 hours
Total Marks: 1400

The Commission has discretion to fix qualifying marks in any or all the subjects of the Examination.
Interview Test: Marks 200
The candidates are interviewed by a Board which takes into account their academic career. The marks scored in the interview are added to the marks scored in the written examination (Main) and the rankings of the candidates are determined on the basis of the total marks obtained.
Assam Civil Services Exam Eligibility Criteria
There are some points of the eligibility criteria which each candidate need to fulfill to be eligible to apply for the ‘Assam Civil Services Examination’.
The candidate must be a citizen of India.
He must have completed the graduation or any other equivalent three years’ degree from a recognized institute.
The age of the applicants should not be less than 21 years and should not exceed 30 years.
The candidates of reserved categories will get relaxation in the upper age.
The age relaxation for the candidates of SC and ST category will be 5 years.
The OBC category applicants will get the upper age relaxation of 3 years.
